Start date: 6/30/25 Shift: 10hr Day Shift (40) Schedule: Day Shift,
Variable Start time (0600-0700am) Specialty: SLMC - Surg Room Job
Summary: This position is located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The
facility is a Level III Trauma Center and Level III NICU, with
Magnet Designation and a Primary Stroke Center. The hospital has a
total of 938 beds and 21 operating room beds. Job Duties: The
surgical assistant will work with a variety of surgical specialties
including Neuro/ENT, Orthopedic, General (Breasts/Plastics),
Vascular, Laparoscopic, General Oncology, Genitourinary (GU),
Gynecology (GYN), and Robotic procedures. The facility does not
train agency staff on robotic procedures unless the candidate has a
strong background and is contracted for more than one term.
Candidates should be prepared to discuss specific procedures they
are familiar with, especially in Vascular, Robotic, and ENT
specialties. Job Requirements: - A minimum of 2 years of experience
is required. - First-time travelers may need further approval or
evaluation by the hiring supervisor and are generally not
recommended. - Patient ratio is 1:1. - Required certifications
include BLS for all roles (Surg Assistant, ORT, First Assist). -
First Assist candidates must have a First Assist skills checklist;
a general ORT checklist will not be accepted. - Skills required
must match the surgical specialty the candidate is being hired for,
as outlined above. - Experience with the following systems and
equipment is required: EPIC, Alaris, and Pyxis. Additional Details:
• Floating: Might float to Cath lab or CVOR for VASCULAR & Robotic
procedures • On-call: • 30 min response time • General / Neuro (8
Week call schedule) • EOS call: 10 slots (Monday through Friday) •
1-2 Weekends (Saturday and Sunday) subject to change based on
department needs • Holiday Call: • Holiday Expectations: If Agency
wants more information, please contact hiring supervisor • Holiday
weeks—Offer 4 10/hr or agency can work normal hours and request to
not work (take unpaid) the Holiday • Orientation: 1-1 ½ weeks
