Manager I, Equipment Control

Location:

Lombard/IL; This position will follow a hybrid work-from-home/office model with at least three days in the office weekly

Role Summary:

Responsible for the strategic management of equipment assets within a designated region. This includes ensuring proper asset allocation to meet customer needs, optimizing equipment utilization, and collaborating with vendors (depots, truckers, terminals). The Equipment Manager oversees financial reporting, equipment flow planning, and performance analysis, while proactively identifying and addressing equipment aging. This role requires strong leadership skills, experience managing a team and exceeding Key Performance Indicators consistently.

Additional Responsibilities:

A successful candidate will bring 2+ years of intermodal management experience and 2+ years of experience managing regional equipment control, along with a proven ability to monitor and achieve performance and financial targets. Experience managing large budgets and cost savings targets (over $10 million annually) is highly desirable.

  • Works across departments to ensure appropriate equipment inventory levels.
  • Monitors and analyzes equipment inventory in relation to cargo flow and demand.
  • Must have prior experience with transportation equipment.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Uses knowledge, established procedures, and sound judgment to make informed decisions.
  • Demonstrates a commercially focused approach.
  • Maintains a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
    
    Required Minimum Years Experience:
    • 7+ years of industry-related experience and 5+ years of management
      
      Required Minimum Education:
      • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
